Could This Be the Design of the iPhone 5?

Posted on 02 August 2011 by admin

This is not the iPhone 5. It’s claimed to be an iPhone 5 clone made by a factory in Shenzhen, China, right where the actual iPhone 5 is being produced. Could this really be what the iPhone 5 looks like?

Check out the pictures, because something tells me it could be very close to the real thing.

It certainly matches the plastic cases and the rumors about Apple using rounded glass for the screen and the back. It also matches the alleged spy shot published last week.

From above, it reminds me a bit of the first iPhone. Overall, it feels like a polished merge between the first generation iPhone and the iPhone 4, with the iPhone 3G’s smoothed curves factored in as well. Its simplicity is very Apple, and to me it feels like it could be a real Apple design.

The alleged clone is only 7mm thick. That’s only 0.275 inches! Obviously, it doesn’t have the same guts as the real thing will have, but I certainly expect a thinner iPhone 5.

Rumored Photos Of Next iPhone

Posted on 25 April 2011 by admin

Here we are again with iPhone 5 rumors. Tis the season! And while we have no reason to think that these rumored white iPhone 5 pictures at MIC Gadget are any more—or less—legitimate than the rounded-back iPhone 5 mockup that emerged last week, it certainly lines up with what the rumor mill has churned out so far.

The wider screen? Sure, it could be Photoshopped. But we’ve been hearing about an edge-to-edge display for some time now. And the similarity to the iPhone 4—there’s a wider screen and the sensor’s in a slightly different place, but otherwise they’re pretty close—indicates that it could be one of those iPhone 4S prototypes that Apple’s reportedly been seeding to devs.

Whether that ends up being the final design of iPhone 5 or a bridge prototype device remains to be seen. But again: it’s that time of year. And the iPhone rumor floodgate has only opened a crack.

What Is NFC?

Posted on 06 December 2010 by admin

NFC is an acronym for “near field communication”. The technology is not new. It’s like bluetooth or RFID. The new Nexus S has it built in. Apple is probably going to put it into the iPhone 5. The Notion Ink tablet may get it too. It is an extension of the ISO/IEC 14443 proximity-card standard.  The process is still not quite mature yet, but you know how that goes; most likely it will be used in more and more smart phones. It works by magnetic induction, much like the power mat works for charging up gadgets. Also, the cordless toothbrushes are using NFC. Supposedly, it is a one-way communication, but that may change too. You have to be close for this to work, somewhere around 10cm (4 inches) The tech is being used in Japan and Europe on an ever-growing scale. Like most technology these days, the hackers will be busy, trying to hack the thing.
