Samsung Reveals Galaxy Beam: Smartphone with Built-in HD Projector

Posted on 26 February 2012 by admin

Samsung is in a roll since it started the Galaxy fever, and there’s no stopping the phone giant especially at the Mobile World Congress 2012, where it just unveiled its latest project: the Galaxy Beam.
Not to be confused with the Android Beam, Galaxy Beam takes its name from its built-in projector that can show HD projection of up to 50 feet wide with is ultra-bright 15 lumens.
The rest of the specs are not as impressive as its brothers Note and Nexus — running on Android 2.3, a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 800x400px, 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera, HSPA+ connectivity, and 8GB of storage.
I’m guessing that in actual usage, this will deliver a much smaller image in regular use, say A4 size, if you want to conserve battery. More than it’s use for sales pitches and showing grandma your recent camping trip right then and there, it’s also great for apps like games and photo editors. That is if they open it up access to third parties. Stay tuned for pricing and availability.

AT&T Announces Throttling Plans

Posted on 30 July 2011 by admin

AT&T today officially confirmed what so many had expected for some time now: the carrier will be throttling select users’ unlimited data plans. The move, which takes effect on October 1st, is a response to a “serious wireless spectrum crunch,” according to a message issued today. The changes will not affect most customers, according to the company, primarily targeting those who fall within the top five percent of heavy users in a given billing cycle. Once the new period begins, speeds will be restored. Even with this new plan in place, however, the company says that the spectrum problems still won’t be resolved — it does have a simple solution, however, explaining that “nothing short of completing the T-Mobile merger will provide additional spectrum capacity to address these near term challenges.”

Rumored Photos Of Next iPhone

Posted on 25 April 2011 by admin

Here we are again with iPhone 5 rumors. Tis the season! And while we have no reason to think that these rumored white iPhone 5 pictures at MIC Gadget are any more—or less—legitimate than the rounded-back iPhone 5 mockup that emerged last week, it certainly lines up with what the rumor mill has churned out so far.

The wider screen? Sure, it could be Photoshopped. But we’ve been hearing about an edge-to-edge display for some time now. And the similarity to the iPhone 4—there’s a wider screen and the sensor’s in a slightly different place, but otherwise they’re pretty close—indicates that it could be one of those iPhone 4S prototypes that Apple’s reportedly been seeding to devs.

Whether that ends up being the final design of iPhone 5 or a bridge prototype device remains to be seen. But again: it’s that time of year. And the iPhone rumor floodgate has only opened a crack.

iPhone 5 To Have 8 Megapixel Camera And Improved Antenna

Posted on 18 April 2011 by admin

Currently, we’ve heard very little about the next-generation iPhone. There was a rumor that it may or may not have a bigger screen. Maybe it won’t have an NFC chip. Now, one analyst is reporting the design will remain unchanged, though its innards will get a slight boost. Ming-Chi Kuo of Concord Securities (who has been dead-on in the past) talked with sources in Apple’s supply chain to learn that the iPhone 5 will boast the same A5 processor as the iPad 2, along with an 8 megapixel rear camera, improved antenna design, and that Qualcomm baseband for both GSM and CDMA models we’ve seen bandied about (technically, the one in the current Verizon version is already GSM-capable). His sources also claim that Apple will begin mass production of its next-gen phone in September, which aligns with what we already heard about Apple moving to a fall launch — and because of the ongoing disaster in Japan, the company might not have sufficient supplies to launch a new iPod touch at the same time. Typically we take many Apple rumors with a grain of salt, but these tidbits all sound plausible. And given that Kuo has been right before, we’re especially inclined to believe him — even if the truth is more ho-hum than magical.
